The Council for Ligurian Linguistic Heritage is an organisation of people committed to promoting the historical Romance varieties of Liguria. In particular, it aims to foster conditions to facilitate the learning of the linguistic heritage of the region, both at the level of scientific research and at the level of dissemination.
The logo, designed in collaboration with Jean Maillard, derives from the so-called ‘genovino’, a gold coin used in the Republic of Genoa from 1252 to 1415.
Its obverse represented the door of a castle, typical of medieval Genoese coins, and around the inscription + IANUA. Indeed, the word ‘ianua’ means door in Latin and resonates like the name of the city.
